QR codes for property signage

One code per listing, in your agency's colours with your logo in the middle. Generate the whole street at once, from 30p a code.

This small business supports a young family in the Scottish Highlands working in nature conservation.

A real example: a For Sale board

Brodie & Mackay

For sale — 4 bed, Strathpeffer

A navy QR code with a "BM" monogram in the centre, on a mocked-up estate agent For Sale board reading "Brodie & Mackay — for sale, 4 bed, Strathpeffer" and "Scan for photos and floorplan".

Scan for photos and floorplan

brodiemackay.co.uk/p/1042

An agency board with the firm’s navy and initials. One code per property, pointing at that property’s own listing page.

It is a real code, generated by the same code path that fulfils a paid order and checked to decode before it was published. Point a phone at it and it opens this page.

  • A pack of 100 covers a year of instructions at 40p a board.
  • Generate the whole set from a list of listing URLs in one go, each file named after the property.
  • Print it at least 8cm across on a board read from the pavement.

Try it — this code really scans

Where they go

For Sale and To Let boards

A code on the board takes a passer-by straight to that property's listing, photos and floorplan.

Window cards

People browse your window after hours. A code per card means they can look properly on their phone.

Brochures and particulars

Link to the full photo set, EPC, floorplan or video tour without printing all of it.

Viewing and open-house signs

A code to book a viewing slot, so enquiries arrive in your system rather than on a voicemail.

Development hoardings

Large-format boards that stay up for months — print from the SVG at any size you need.

Holiday lets and short stays

Wi-Fi details, house manual, local guide — codes that stay valid between guests.

A whole portfolio in one order

This is what the bulk page is really for. Paste one line per property, labelled with the address:

12 Bridge Street @ https://youragency.co.uk/property/12-bridge-street
4 Manse Road @ https://youragency.co.uk/property/4-manse-road
Flat 2, Harbour View @ https://youragency.co.uk/property/flat-2-harbour-view

Back comes 12-bridge-street.png and .svg for each, so your board supplier can drop the right file onto the right board without a naming conversation. The PDF contact sheet shows every code beside its address and destination — which is how you catch a transposition before 40 boards go to print.

100 codes for £40, 250 for £75. Order a pack.

What happens when the property sells

Worth thinking about before you print. Our codes are static: each one permanently points at the address you gave it. When a property sells, the board comes down and the code retires with it. That's normally exactly what you want.

The thing to avoid is a listing URL that disappears on sale and returns a 404. Better to keep sold listings live with a "Sold" banner and a link to current stock — an old board photographed on someone's phone then still leads somewhere useful.

If you'd rather reuse physical boards across properties, point each code at a stable slot on your own site — youragency.co.uk/board/017 — and redirect that slot to whichever property is currently on it. Board 17 keeps its code forever and you change where it lands. More on this approach.

Printing for outdoors

  • Size for the reading distance. Rough rule: the code should be at least a tenth of the distance people scan from. Read from 2m, print at least 20cm.
  • Use the SVG for anything large-format. It scales without softening; a PNG blown up to board size will not.
  • Matt finish. Gloss boards in low winter sun reflect straight back into the camera.
  • Mount it low enough to reach. A code at the top of a 3m post is unscannable no matter how well printed.
  • Strong contrast, always. Dark code, light background — brand colours are worth compromising on here.
  • Test one board first, outdoors, in daylight, from where people will actually stand.
