My day job is in nature conservation, in the Highlands. This site is something I built alongside that — a small, honest thing that earns a bit of money for a young family without needing my constant attention.

That constraint shaped the whole product. I can't be on call to keep a redirect service alive at three in the morning, so I don't sell one. I can't promise you a support desk, so I don't pretend to have one. What I can promise is that the file you buy is finished when it lands in your inbox and will never need anything from me again.

Because that is roughly what it's worth, and because the alternative pricing in this market is faintly absurd. A QR code is a well-documented open standard from 1994. Generating one costs a fraction of a penny of computing time. Charging £15 a month in perpetuity for that is not a price, it's a subscription trap wearing a price's clothing.

£1 covers the Stripe fee, the generation, the checking, and a small amount left over. At bulk it comes down to 30p a code. Registered UK charities pay half, because the people printing donation posters are exactly the people who can least afford to have their codes stop working.

I want to be careful here, because "for good" is the sort of phrase businesses use to imply more than they do. So, precisely:

• The money this earns supports a family living and working in conservation in the Highlands. It is not a donation to a charity, and I'm not claiming it is.
• Registered UK charities get 50% off bulk packs, automatically, without having to ask or negotiate.
• The codes are permanent by design, which is the genuinely useful thing for a small organisation printing something it can't afford to reprint.

That's the whole claim. If you were expecting a percentage-of-profits pledge, there isn't one — I'd rather under-promise here than join the crowd of businesses doing the opposite.

Payment goes through Stripe; I never see your card details. Your code is generated, then machine-checked by decoding the finished image and comparing the result against the address you typed. If it doesn't match exactly, it isn't sent.

Your email address is used to send you the files and nothing else. There is no mailing list, and I don't sell anything on. The privacy page spells that out properly.

It's just me, so replies take as long as they take — usually a day or two. If a code doesn't work, say so and I'll fix it or refund you.
